Patient Safety
Condition Help

-
At NEA Baptist, we are focused on providing patient and family centered care. Condition H was created to address your needs in case of an emergency when you feel you are not receiving adequate medical attention. Calling Condition H is an avenue to immediate help when you have concerns about your condition that are not being addressed.
-
When to call:
-
If there is a noticeable medical change and you cannot get the attention of a health care provider.
-
If there is a breakdown in how care is being given or confusion over what needs to be done for the patient.
-
-
To access Condition H, please call 6-7585 from a hospital phone or (870)-936-7585 from a cellular phone. If called while outside of the hospital, the operator will ask for identification, patient’s room number, name and concern. The operator will activate Condition H and a health care professional will be alerted and come to see the patient.
-
You may hear “MRT” or Medical Response Team called overhead. A group of clinicians will come to the patient’s bedside to assess the patient. Condition H allows for patients, family and/or support members to have a voice and to speak up if there is a change in condition.
Fall Prevention
-
Fall prevention is a top priority for NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital. When you are sick, you may have an increased risk for falls. You may be identified as a risk for falls during your hospital stay. A yellow armband may be placed on your arm to alert staff that assistance is needed when getting out of bed.
-
The risk for falling may increase with age, past history of falls, confusion, use of certain medications, weakness, difficulty walking, etc. Here are some ways to help keep you safe while in the hospital:
-
We strongly encourage a familiar person to stay with you.
-
Please let staff know if you have experienced a recent slip or fall.
-
Call a staff member to assist you to the bathroom, chair or to walk.
-
When out of bed, wear shoes with a sturdy, solid sole or non-slip socks.
-
If you are in need of non-slip socks, please contact a staff member and we will provide you with some socks.
-
Keep all personal items within reach, to include the nurse call button.
-
If you become restless or confused, please let staff know immediately.
-
The bed may have an electronic device inside to alarm if you attempt to get out of bed. Please do not turn off the alarm.
-
Additional tips to prevent falls:
-
Maintain a clear path to the bathroom.
-
Call for assistance if you feel weak or dizzy.
-
Use your call light if you need to get up.
-
Alert staff to any items that need cleaned up or moved for your safety.
